After e-tron, here comes e-tron Sportback.

Sporty-looking SUVs or CUVs if you like are a niche class of this dominant class of cars that is also growing quite fast, especially among German manufacturers. In fact, one could say, German companies invented them, BMW and Mercedes-Benz in particular. From this point of view, Audi has been falling behind, but are now gaining speed and in some way even taking the lead. After presenting the Q3 Sportback, they have now prepared its electric brother – of course, built based on Audi e-tron.

From the front, e-tron is the same as regular e-tron and this goes well over until the end of front doors. From there on, roof starts slowly falling all the way down to the rear light, which are positioned at the same place as with regular e-tron. This design does not only alternate the image of the car but also drag coefficient, which is at 0.25 quite low – anything to make it more aerodynamic and efficient when it comes to energy consumption.

Being ‘only’ a Sportback, under the skin it is pretty much all the same: there are going to be two versions, the 55 Quatrro, bringing a power output of 265 kW and 561 Nm from a pair of motors and 95 kWh battery pack and a 50 quattro, that generates 230 kW of output and 540 Nm. However, there is one think, making a SPortback even better option from regular e-tron and that is Digital matrix LED headlamps, enabling even faster reactions of beams.

Start of sales is only few days away as Audi is planning to start it at the end of this month, while the first examples are planned to arrive from Brussels plant in 2020 with a starting price of EUR 71,350 in Germany. And those very first examples are goingf to be quite uniqe all colored in plasma blue color, S line exterior and some other bits and pieces.
