BMW is extending it's electric i3's range.

The electric car's range is to see 25 percent increase. In practice, this means that it won't make 130 to 160 kilometers on one full charge, as it did up until now, but over 200. Both the pure battery electric i3 and the range-extended i3 Rex will receive the batteries with optimized capacity.

The baterries will retain the same 22 kilowatt-hours, but the increased rage potential will stem from higher power density, as 18.7 kilowatt-hours will be used. Greater range will also be accomplished by improved steering electronics, featuring a new algorithm that will allow better control over the electric motor and battery cooling.
