DS Automobiles is not exactly cutting the cord from Citroën, but is obviously heading its own way. They established their own DS Performance motor sport division, which will offer its know-how and support to the DS Virgin Racing Team, competing in Formula E.

DS Performance engineers developed not only the DSV-01 electric race car's entire drivetrain, including its electric motor and gearbox, but also the cooling system, rear suspension and transmission. The motor management system was, however, designed in collaboration with Magneti Marelli.

Inspired by the fact DS Performance joined forces with the Virgin Racing Teamom, the latest design also boasts with a refreshed color scheme. The new Formula E now, albeit maintaining the well-known features we've seen in the past season, including the purple battery cover, also features a large white logo of the DS Automobiles brand, placed on a black background. Race cars, named Holly and Bellie Branson, will be driven by Sam Bird and Jean-Eric Vergne. They will, of course, both bear the legendary, distinctively red 'Virgin' logo of the Branson empire.
