From next year, a specialist company Multimatic Niche Vehicles, acclaimed for manufacturing complete vehicles, chassis and small series designs (such as Aston Martin One-77, Zagato and GT12, Lagonda Taraf and Ford GT) will produce the new Metrocab in Coventry, the heart of British automotive industry. While the company's head office is in Ontario, it owns manufacturing facilities in North America, Europe and Asia, main forte being in the field of automotive components and systems.

A small number of Metrocabs is already driving around London under the supervision of Comcab, the cab operator. With no polluting emissions to consider, they are the very first taxi vehicles of the kind granted an official permit for commercial use by Transport for London.
