In a press release, Ian Robertson, BMW AG Board Member for Sales and Marketing, said that BMW i8 "is already the world's most successful hybrid sports car", so it's no wonder the higher-than-expected sales figures will be celebrated with exclusive special-edition models, said to be unveiled for the first time at the Geneva Motor Show.
The first one to dazzle the brand's fans is BMW i8 Protonic Red Edition. Painted in unique Protonic Red paint finish along with accents in Frozen Grey metallic, the exterior is complemented by BMW W-spoke 470 light-alloy wheels painted in Orbit Grey metallic. The interior of the limited-edition i8 sports red double-stitching, topped with high-grade carbon fibre and ceramic additions.
There are no mechanical changes, so we're looking at a 0-100 kmh time of 4.4 seconds and CO2 emissions (combined) of 49g/km.
BMW i8 Protonic Red Edition will be built at the BMW Plant Leipzig from July.
It will cost from £112,535 and will be made available in strictly limited production numbers for a limited period of time from September on.
