Scotish electric vehicle enthusiast Christopher Ramsey just finished an epic North Coast 500 ride with Nissan Leaf 30 kWh.
North Coast 500 is a 516-mile scenic route arround Highlands of Scotland, that some compare as Scotland's answer to american Route 66. It starts in Inverness Castle, takes drivers arround the castles, beaches, wildlife and mountains of Highlands and finishes in Inverness Castle.
Ramsey believes, that he is the first driver, which completed the route completely electric. He said that the North Coast 500 was simply stunning experience to enjoy in the Nissan Leaf. The views were incredible and the silent drivetrain ment that he could enjoy surrounding sounds like braking of waves on the beaches, birds flight and so on. He also said, that it was the most difficult challenge he experienced to date, especially due to couple of offline rapid chargers on the part of drive.
Ramsey is not a newbie in long electric drives. He, for example, successfully finished a 1,652-mile drive from John O'Groats to Land's End and back last september and managed to show that charging infrastructure can support long drives. He also founded the Plug In Adventures team in 2011, which can be followed via social media.
