At the Festival of Speed in Goodwood , a robot electric racing car Robocar also appeared and succesfully managed autonomous ride on a rather challenging track.
It was also the first ride entirely without a driver in all 25-year history of the event, and as you can see in the video, it was also reasponably fast. Car operators reduced the speed for safety reasons to a maximum of 120 kilometers per hour, which also allowed visitors to see the car at all.
The Robocar, the world's first autonomous racing car, was brainchild of the automotive futurist Daniel Simone. The racer weighs 1,350 kilograms and is powered by four 135-kilowatt electric motors. The important element of it is also an autonomous driving capability, which is managed by the Nvidia Drive PX2 computer, which processes data from lidars, radars, GPS sensors, ultrasonic sensors and video cameras.
