For the Shanghai Motor Show 2017 (19 – 28 April), Škoda prepared its first electric study Vision E to announce the brand's electric future. Škoda plans to introduce five electric models in various segments by 2025.

Vision E is a five-door SUV coupé with a dynamic silhouette, measuring 4,645 mm in length, 1,917 mm in width, 1,550 mm in heigth and has a long wheelbase of 2,850 mm. The spacious interior enables the driver and the passenger to sit in the elevated seating position, but since the roof line gently slopes in the style of a coupé, we can expect a little less comfort for the passengers sitting in the back.

The study is powered by two electric motors with system output of 225 kW, enabling the all four-wheel driven Vision E to speed up to 180 km/h (112mph). The motors draw their energy from lithium-ion batteries that together with optimal recuperation allow a range of up to 500 kilometres (311 miles).

With Vision E concept, Škoda is also hinting heavily at the brand's autonomous future, since its autonomous system already achieves the prerequisites for level 3 autonomous driving, meaning the car can operate independently in traffic jams, go into autopilot on motorways, stay in lane and swerve, carry out overtaking manoeuvres, independently search for free parking spaces and park and leave parking spaces alone.
