The engineers at Volkswagen have equipped the 4.870‑meter four‑door coupé, with a hybrid drive.

A six‑cylinder turbocharged petrol engine powers the front wheels together with a smaller electric motor, while another, more powerful, electric motor drives the rear wheels. The plug‑in hybrid boasts 380 hp of total system output. The six‑speed dual‑clutch DSG gearbox changes gear. This suffices for the Sport Coupé GTE Concept to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in five seconds, while its top speed is 250 km/h. With fully-charged batteries, the all‑electric range of the Sport Coupé GTE Concept is 50 kilometers.
