If you are one of those who want to know exactly what they eat then the SmartPlate is a perfect choice for you.

SmartPlate is divided into three sections; the sides of each section have built-in digital cameras that use algorithms to identify the contents of your plate. Together with weight sensors and using the Internet, the SmartPlate can precisely analyse what is on the plate as well as the amount of calories and other nutrients in the food. Everything happens in just few seconds and the user receives the results through the application on a mobile phone. SmartPlate connects with a mobile phone through a Bluetooth connection and uses Wi-Fi to connect to the Internet.

Its greatest advantage is automation. When using applications we have to physically enter what and how much we ate. However, using SmartPlate any mistakes made when entering the dishes and their quantities aren't possible, because everything is done automatically. Cameras and detection algorithms are supposedly good enough to tell the difference between white and wholegrain bread. SmartPlate has a built-in barcode reader in case you are eating food you purchased.

If the designers manage to raise enough funds on Kickstarter, the smart plates will find their place on our tables sometime in Summer 2016, at a price of $ 199 (approximately € 177).
