MOONOLITH, dark reflection of the sky has landed in Ljubljana and will stay there until 3 January.
The art installation entitled 'Moonolith' is a unique monument to the moon and stars and a huge dark sphere, responsive to human presence. As you approach it, you can move the constellations with your body movements and also use it as a creative sound instrument.
The art instalation is a homage to everything that the universe is made of: the dark matter, the void, the in-between space, the speed, and the time and its passing. It was created as a part of the art project Darkstar that the Slovenian media artist and the head of the MoTA Museum of Transitory Art, Martin Bricelj Baraga, has been running and developing since 2011.
Moonoliht will be responsive to interaction daily from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. You'll find it on the Ljubljana's Republic square. An Axis Mundi auspiciously placed between centres of Politics, Finance, History and Commerce.
Would you like to learn how to draw with light, observe the Moon with a telescope, learn about the architecture of the Republic Square or find out what astroacoustics is? Than you can join the team at the MOTO project space next to the instalation, where a full month of workshops and lectures on light, astronomy and technology will be taking place in the Moonolight Lab. The workshops are intended for visitors of the Moonolight and all intrested public. There are no age restrictions and no previous knowledge is required. Don't miss out - join the universe!
