WASP is building the first house 3D printed in Asia.
With WASP now is possible to make innovative building and radically rethink the livability. Thanks to the collaboration with Siam Cement Group (SCG), the largest Cement manufacturer in Thai that with the Architect Pitupong Chaowakul (Supermachine Studio).
The project was born due to the interesting of SCG to the potentiality of 3D. They declare: "We would like to drive the construction industry in Thailand, and 3D printing technology is one of the innovations that will get more involved in the construction and architecture".
So a year ago they contacted WASP. After the first meeting started a collaboration and WASP made a 4-metres-high custom series printer able to print a 2x2x2 m volume and to extrude thick-fluid materials like the concrete produced by SCG. Massimo Moretti says: "We are very proud that a big Company like this belives in our work so much to come in Italy 4 times in a year, sharing its plans with us. They bridge the GAP of European organizations that are approaching to the 3D very slowly."
The first project completed with this technology is "Helix: The Family Cocoon", a small creative sleep-able shelter, imitates natural structure of the shell fusiform. The design is complex against construction made by labor skill due to 'Random Twist' form and layer by layer texture.
Today they stands out again with a new project, the building of a house. This is a "home" in the broadest sense of the word. An amazing 21st century cave – a recreation of the first dwellings our distant ancestors ever called home.
