In February, initially online, then later in Geneva, Audi formally announced for the first time an offensive on plug-in hybrids, which is due to take place this year. The first to be subjected to all three largest limousines, models A6, A7 and A8, and also to the hybrids Q5 and Q7. And if we've already met the largest limousine and the smaller of the two SUVs, now is the time for the most popular limo, the A6.

However, there is not much new for the A6 55 TFSI e quattro. On the contrary, the power plant is, as the name suggests, exactly the same as in the A7, and Q5 plg-ins, which means a two-liter petrol engine (which makes the designation of the TFSI) with a power of 185 kilowatts (252 'horses'), and an electric motor with a power output of 105 kilowatts. This will, as has been the case, be linked to a seven-stage automatic transmission and will help to transfer the power to all four wheels. Combined system power? 270 kilowatts, plus 500 Newtonmeters of torque.

A6 55 TFSI e quattro will thus produce enough power and torque on one side and Economic on the other. Finally, as measured by the WLTP standard, assisted by a battery pack with a capacity of 14,1 kilowatt hours, it should allow up to 53 kilometres of electrical autonomy and a maximum speed exclusively by electric power drive of 135 kilometres per hour. Price? At least 68,850 euros on the German market.
