BMW announced details of the plug-in hybrid versions of the new BMW 7 Series, 754e, BMW 754Le and 754Le xDrive sedans, which share the same output of up to 290 kW in Sport mode and electric reach of up to 58 kilometers.

Plug-in powertrain includes a combination of an in-line 6-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine with the peak output of 210 kW and an electric motor with a rated output of 83 kW and torque of 265 Nm, which takes its power from a new lithium-ion battery with a storage capacity of 12 kWh and is integrated into the 8-speed Steptronic transmission.

With a combination of petrol and electric motors BMW 745e accelerates in 5,2 seconds to 100 km/h, BMW 745Le needs one tenth of a second more for the same result and thanks to all wheel drive BMW 754Le xDrive is quickest of the three with 5,1 seconds from standing to 100 km/h. In hybrid mode all can travel with the speed up to 110 km/h electrically and in electric mode the top speed reaches 140 km/h. The electrically powered range is situated between 50 to 58 kilometers, depending on the version and driving mode.

From the summer BMW will also offer a new digital service for plug-in hybrid models, which will make charging of battery on the road more convenient. The driver will be  able to more easily pick the nearest unoccupied charging station, but also nearby hotel, restaurants, cafes and local attractions.
