Ford introduced second generation of autonomous Ford Fusion - in Evrope known as Mondeo – which is becoming more similar to 'normal' cars.

The most obvious difference to Ford's earlier attempts in self driving technology is lack of huge external aids like big cameras and another sensors, which are still there but in much smaller and less obvious shape. Second generation of self dirving vehicles still use the same autonomous vehicle platform as before, but Ford's researchers put much effort to improve compting power of hardware and brought everything closer to production-ready phase.

Also the sensors were adjusted and better placed for car to better 'see' around it. New LIDAR sensors are better designed and have more targeted field of vision, their number is reduced from four to two. Also autonomous vehicle platform and virtual driver system were improved.
