A victory in the penultimate race of the season has given Lucas Di Grassi a lead in the championship.

His lead would be even bigger if his rival would be penalized for his unsafe pit-stop release. However, the race stewards have conveniently overlooked the infringement, so before Sundays' last race of the season the difference is only 6 points.

Di Grassi has lead from start to finish (leading Vergne and Sarrazin who finished 2nd and 3rd), while Buemi had to fight form 12th start position after destroying his car in 2nd free practice and getting a 10 places penalty after qualifying. He lost some places right after the start but then fought back fiercely, overtaking his competitors almost every lap. During the car-change pit stops his team released him in an improper manner right into Daniel Abt, who had to take avoiding action, but curiously enough he was not penalized.
