The surprise of the weekend was Mahindra's Felix Rosenquist, who secured his first pole position in Formula E, started fastest and disappeared into the distance. He extended his lead after mid-race car exchange, but had to start saving energy as his maximum attack drive has used too much electricity from his batteries. Buemi, who kept pushing, managed to fight his way into top 3, then overtook jean Eric Vergne (who was later penalized for speeding in pit lane) and finally Rosenquist, who also had to concede second place to DS Virgin driver Sam Bird. After winning in Marrakesh Buemi (Renault Dams) is heading into New Years break with a clear lead in the championship, while his biggest rival from last season, Lucas di Grassi (Abt Audi) only managed to score 5th place in Marrakesh, again (as in first race in Hong Kong) overtaking and climbing from lowly 12th starting position.
