End of the year is time, when a lot of countries host their local Car of the year competition. Off course, being one of the strongest countries in automotive world, it is no wonder, Germany also has one and with a stiff competition that is. 59 cars-long was the list of this year’s competitors, yet only one could win. And it has been a memorable win; car of the year award in Germany was this year given to an electric car, Jaguar I-Pace.

After stressful tests, where jury was evaluating design of the car, its performances, how it rides, how it handles, future viability and relevance of each model on the road, British electric SUV – first such vehicle, made by Jaguar has received the prestigious award, thanks to majority of 12 expert journalists, who gave the car the most votes.

Jens Meiners, German car of the year award jury member and spokesman: “The Jaguar I-PACE is not only the first premium electric vehicle from an established manufacturer, it also makes uncompromising use of the advantages of an electrified vehicle architecture. Its performance is impressive, and its design and practicality stand out, which is why the I-PACE ultimately was the winner against strong competition.”

Albeit, Car of the year award is one of the most prestigious awards in the automotive world, it is not the only one I-Pace could win. In only ten days, on 12th of November, it will among five competitors for the Women’s World Car of the Year Award, where it will compete with another Jaguar, the E-Pace SUV.
