It is crafted to resemble racing machines from first half of twentieth century. Infiniti did not really exist then, but Nissan did, and guiding line behind the concept development was: "What if Infiniti had created a race car in 1940's?"
Infiniti's - or better said Nissan's –racing history may not date so far into the history but the company nevertheless has many racing successes. One of them is certainly Prince R380, which broke several land speed records in 1965 and took overall victory at the 1966 Japanese Grand Prix.
Design of the concet may resemble vintage racers , and body pannels were hand beaten from steel plates by team of Takumi, but under the body concept is all modern. Infiniti Prototype 9 EV features modern prototype electric motor and 30 kWh Lithium-ion battery form Nissan's Advanced Powertrain Department. Motor produces power of 120 kW and 320 Nm of torque and drives rear wheels via single speed transmition. Prototype 9 reaches top speed of 170 kph, accelerates in 5,65 seconds to 100 kph and can drive 20 minutes under heavy track use.
