Spy photographers caught a a Renault Alpine test mule at the time of testing in southern Spain. By the looks of it, it is very likely the new sports car will be equipped with a hybrid propulsion system.

Renault's sports car, which is to go on sale by the end of 2016 or (more likely) in the beginning of 2017, looks quite a bit like (albeit highly modified) Lotus Exige, however we expect the final version of the car to probably look like the concept coupe we saw revealed at Le Mans last month.

Interestingly, you may notice a (quite obvious) red button on the right side of the car, above which there is a triangular sticker with an electric (lightning) symbol – a possible sign that a hybrid is being developed. Meanwhile, the concept sports car was presented with a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine and approximately 240 horsepower. The production version of the car will probably feature the same engine, but will be upgraded with an electromotor, increasing its horsepower to about 300. It will also be able to make a few 'electric' kilometers.
