Renault, Qualcomm Technologies and Vedecom built a stretch of electric road in Versailles near Paris. It's equiped with a systemfor inductive charging of batteries and allow cars to be charged with the power up to 20 kW with the speeds up to 100 kph and more.

The project will involve two Renault Kangoo Z.E. electric cars with the system for wireless charging built in, who will be able to simultainoussly drive in the same or oposite dire ctions. The test drives will serve for the puprpose of evaluating the system and transfer of electric power between road and cars and they willinvolve several true life scenarios. They will laso develop the system for identiffication and evaluation of vehicle entering track, power level agreement between track and vehicle and other parameters.

Qualcomm in the project was responsible for building and equiping the road and Renault with Vedecom prepared the receiving system in the car.

The road was build in frame of 9 million dollar worth project FABRIC, which was partially financed by EU and involves 25 companies and institutions from 9 european states.
