Tesla Model S became the first production electric car ever to drive the distance of more than 1.000 kilometers on one charge. Previous record was 901,2 km.
To reach such distance they had to modify their car with low resistance tires, and they also drove with air conditioning switched off. They also used some hyper-miling driving techniques and used Auto Pilot and to keep the 40 kph average speed on the roads around Salerno – so it took them 29 hours to reach the final distance. Not really representative of normal driving, but a record nonetheless.
