In the first quarter of this year, United Kingdom established itself as a leading European country on the road to sustainable mobility.

During the first three months of 2016, 10,486 new plug-in cars in total hit the roads in the UK. That equals to 113 new plug-in cars sold per day or one plug-in car sold every 13 minutes. Furthermore, March sales show the highest monthly rate with 7,144 new plug-in cars sold, thus exceeding the previous monthly total of 6,104 new plug-in cars that were sold during the same month in 2015.

It represents the best, most profitable period of electric cars sales since the Plug-in Grant was introduced in the UK five years ago. If it goes on in the same manner, this year's sales will soon top last year's total sales, when a record of 386 percent annual rise was noted.

At the moment, the number of plug-in vehicles is greater than 58,000, which is nearly a triple amount of plug-in vehicles regiestered before 2015.
