In 2013, an idea appeared on Kickstarter about a 3D-pencil by the innovative toy manufacturer WobbleWorks. In just 34 days, 3doodler collected 1.8 million euros on Kickstarter and WobbleWorks used them to realise the idea. Now an improved version 3doodler 2.0 is available as well.

With the doodler you can transform your drawings into 3D-models on any surface, without any software requirements! As opposed to a regular pen, it does not require ink, but contains fillings with ABS or PLA-plastics used by most desktop 3D-printers.

The latest version of 3doodler is 75 percent smaller and over 50 percent lighter than the first 3D-pen, weighing as little as 50 grams. Thanks to the improved air intake on top, the latest 3D-pen is much quieter and more efficient, while using only half as much energy as before. The newest option of manual temperature setting allows the user to control and regulate the flow of plastic from the tip of the pen with greater precision.

The modified tip of the doodler also provides greater accuracy, while the completely revised processing system offers improved speed resetting and a more uniform flow of plastic from the pen.
