Ever wondered what it might feel like to fly around like Superman? This last summer, Six Flags New England, New England's largest theme park, launched one of the first Virtual Reality (VR) Roller Coasters in North America.

Superman VR Ride

Superman the Ride Virtual Reality Coaster is said to be the world's tallest, fastest, and longest, and is one of the first Virtual Roller Coasters in North America. Just by looking at the video, one can see it offers a fully immersive virtual experience with all the perks of the latest technology and innovation.

Riders, equipped with Gear VR headsets, here become part of the action as Superman battles his eternal nemesis, the evil Lex Luthor to save Metropolis. The coaster, which holds 34 passengers with 2 trains, is 208 feet high (with a 221 feet drop) and sets you on a memorable ride along the 5,400ft long track, reaching maximum speed of 77mph. Riders will feel their superpowers rise for a thrilling total ride time of 2 minutes and 30 seconds.

Superman coaster combines virtual reality with real forces, real drops and real airtime, so the riders are able to experience a truly remarkable riding experience as they "climb over 20 stories in to the air and race down like a speeding bullet."

The park is closed at the moment, but next year, in April 2017, Six Flags New England is making a grand come-back with another new attraction that will be again a first in the world of coaster rides - The Joker: 4D Free Fly Coaster
