Remember Green Goblin, the supervillain from the Marvel Comics Universe, giving a hard time to Spider-Man? Well, if you liked his hoverboard, we've got some really exciting news for you - Franky Zapata made one just like it!

It was always an unfullfilled dream of humankind to be able to fly - not only with planes and balloons, but like a Rocketeer! Once, hovering, floating mid air, was a futuristic scene from a sci-fi movie and it was something most of us dreamed of becoming reality in our life-time. While there have been many attempts at doing so, developing various air crafts for individual use, Zapata Racing has achieved something truly remarkable. And it's called flying on the innovation Flyboard® Air, created and tested by the French jet ski champion Franky Zapata.

We've been writing many times about aircrafts that would give the sensation Marty McFly was experiencing in the Back to the Future movies, but quite frankly, Flyboard® Air goes way beyond that! The real, proper hoverboard of our dreams is the result of a 4-year-long research and development work. It's here now and using an 'Independent Propulsion Unit' the team claims it can enable autonomous flight up to 10,000 feet (cca. 3,000 meters) and a top speed of 150km/h (93,2 mph). Up in the air, you get to enjoy 10 minutes of pure, adrenaline-pumped autonomy. Sceptics don't believe the figures are true (some users on Zapata's facebook profile even claim the video is fake), especially because we don't see exactly how the craft takes off and how it is controlled, but time and experience will tell - until then, we are seriously impressed.

Zapata Racing already produced some thrilling products in the past, including the water-powered Flyboard from 2011 (water streams were used to push the board up in the air - check the second video below to see more). The new Flyboard Air now removes the necessity of water streams being used, taking the company's highly innovative product a step further into the (exhilarating) future!

At the moment, there is no reliable information on when the Flyboard Air will be available for purchase, nor if it will ever be officially released.

Until we can enjoy riding one of these, check out the video below - it's honestly all kinds of awesome!
