An eco-friendly home you can set up almost anywhere.

Founded in March 2015, the Backcountry Hut Company from Vancouver offers modern-looking out-of-the box huts. They are prefabricated modular living units that you can buy along with an supposedly easy-to-follow assembly manual. Think Ikea on a grander scale. Imagine building a house the old way, when friends gathered and helped a family raise a house together, without having to hire professionals.

Even though many details on the huts haven't been made public yet, it is known that the cabin's goal is to offer off the grid, sustainable living. For example, potential users can expect to benefit from a solar roof and a composting toilet.

The prices of the huts are currently also unknown, but the first off-grid cabins are said to be constructed sometime in 2017.
