June is here, the sun is out there. Sounds like it's time to start enjoying outdoor cooking. And is there any eco-friendlier way to do it than with a solar cooking table set?

The award-winning duo Francesca Lanzavecchia and Hunn Wai designed a fabulous-looking "solar cooking table" that comes with a little surprise, when it comes to actual cooking. Yes, it's a piece of green outdoor furniture/grill 'machinery', which already makes us enthusiastic about it, but to top it all, it's a place, created to bring people together and socialize over cooking, making it one the most attractive BBQ tools for social gatherings.

Indeed, there can be only one 'grillmeister', but that's your conventional grilling experience. New times call for new practices, and SUNplace, the solar cooking table & set, offers one or more people of the 'garden gang' to experiment and enjoy together the experience of the solar cooking.

Originally created for the 2015 Milan Expo, SUNplace uses the most self-sufficient, clean and inexhaustible energy source : the sun. The table lets you cook without emissions; instead, it uses the sun's rays which are concentrated through a large fresnel lens on top of a table onto a cast-iron grill.

Designers were inspired by historic facts, noting that the hearth once was the center of the tribe and family, so they now hope to evoke that ancient spirit of sharing food and nurturing family ties. The studio says: "SUNplace may well become a new core for living outside, an evolution of the ancient "fireplace" that warms entertains and feeds."
