If you are looking for a quality and durable folding kayak that's also incredibly easy to transport anywhere you like, this solution could be right up your alley.
Making the outdoors more accessible is the innovative Oru Kayak, created by the San Francisco based Oru Kayak Inc., the first company to bring a foldable kayak to market, using the basic principals of the origami folding technique. Using patented technology and a lightweight skin, Oru kayaks can be - according to the manufacturer - stowed in a trunk, checked on a plane, and hiked into remote waters.
They started their career path on Kickstarter, and being successful, they continued developments of their unique vessels and are now, in 2016, presenting a new product. The Beach Kayak, another easy-to-assemble solution (supposedly even easier than the original version), making water and paddling more accessible to even the most casual users. It is 28" wide and stable enough for easy cruising.
"In the last few years, customers have requested a more stable, casual usagekayak," saidAnton Willis,Oru Kayak founderand chief designer. "In thinking about how to accomplish this,I went back to where it all started and my first origami papermodels –they were so pure andsimplein their design. The Beach is pure origami. Lots of the solid parts on our previous model have been stripped away, andwe refined the details to be as clean and elegant as possible."
