Wonderful roads are lit by LED lights, charged by solar cells in daylight and shining bright at night. This clever project comes from the Roosegaarde studio with the aim to make roads more efficient and safe.

"I wanted to create an environment that people would experience in a different way. A mixture of technology and experience. This is what I call "techno-poetry", the creator, Daan Roosegaarde said.

Roosegaarde found the inspiration for his patterned solar road from Van Gogh's painting Starry Night (1889) to bring together past and present times.
