The same as the other models in BMW's line the 5 series will also be available with plugin hybrid powetrain in the spring. As intriduction to its appearance at the NAIAS auto show in Detroit, BMW published its final facts.

BMW 530e iPerformance will boast the system power 252 HP and kombined torque of 420 Nm, which will arrive from the combination of 184 HP, 320 Nm 2-litre gasoline four cilinder engine and 95 HP, 250 Nm electric motor. It will reach 100 km/h in just 6,2 seconds and accelerate up to the final speed of 235 km/h. According to company, petrol consumption will not exceed 2 liters per 100 kilometers, what equals to the emissions of just 46 grams of CO2 per kilometer.

The car will have up to 50 km of pure electric range, coming from to 9,2 kWh Lithium-ion battery under the back seats. With the houshold socket, full charging of the battery will take about five hours and with the 3,7 kW BMW iWallbox it will be charged in less than three hours.
