Pininfarina's world-renowned design and engineering skills mirror timeless aesthetic values of Italian design. Usually, the name Pininfarina is associated with striking body designs for limited runs of exclusive high quality cars, as seen in Ferrari or Maserati, among others. You might also remember the remarkable H2 Speed hydrogen fuel cell concept from the Geneva Motor Show? In truth, the Italian masters of design are focused also on non-automotive design and engineering services (product development, testing, prototype construction), tackling everything from the Istanbul Airport Tower (the winner of the International Architecure Award 2016), to trains and interior designs.

Making its official debut at Eurobike Show in Friedrichshafen from August 28th (taking home the Eurobike Award), Pininfarina now presents Evoluzione, a highly elegant high-tech electric resulting from the collaboration between Pininfarina and Diavelo, a member of the Accell Group. "Evoluzione represents a perfect synthesis of our spirit: sporty character and eco-friendly soul" affirms Paolo Pininfarina, Chairman of the Group. "Sportyand dynamic, aharmonic bikeable to guarantee high performances and great comfort".

As explained by the developers, the innovative bicycle was inspired by a holistic design philosophy, with all the main parts integrated in the bike: the battery (patented technology), the mid-engine, the handlebar and stem, the cockpit, all the cables, the lighting system. Within the carbon frame there is the silent, yet high torque 250-watt German Brose mid motor, which requires practically no maintenance; moreover, the frame also houses the removable Panasonic battery (500W –13,6A –36V). With integration being key, the high-tech elegance on two wheels has better weight distribution and is more balance to offer a more comfortable and performing ride.

Compared to current rivals on the market, Evoluzione weighs only 16 kilograms, making it super light. You can reach maximum e-speeds of up to regulated 15.5 mph (25 km/h), or 20 mph (32 km/h) where terrain allows it.

There are three models you can choose from. Elegance comes in elegant colors and with software settings for the motor set to be in cruise mode for a smooth and fast acceleration and a lot of torque. High-tech is for those who are tech-savvy and love hi-tech solutions. The motor is tuned to a more sporty mode to make for a more exciting ride. Last, but not least, there is Dynamic, the wild one. It's as sporty as Evoluzione gets, with motor set to Dynamic mode in order for the user to enjoy fast accelerations and a lot of torque. It also comes equipped with special ceramic carbide carbon brake disc rotors.
