While in Tokyo, London Mayor Boris Johnson officially unveiled a 'refreshed' European version of the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV.

The existing Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV dubs as the best selling plug-in electric car in the UK, reaching a sales total of 2,731 vehicles in 2014 and (up until now) in 2015 over 9,303. Outlander sold almost 100% more vehicles than Nissan Leaf that only managed to find 4,285 new owners this year. In Great Britain, 2015 turned out to be a pretty successful year for plug-in hybrid and electric cars – 20,992 drivers opted to purchase them, most likely because the government is supporting them with generous tax benefits. Thus, Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV costs just as much as the diesel version of Outlander.

It was definitely a good enough reason for Mayor Boris Johnson to take the time during his official visit in Japan and unveil the refreshed European version of Outlander PHEV. He even took it for a short ride. Practically at the same time, the first European Outlander PHEV vehicles arrived to Great Britain. The car is already being sold in Japan since the beginning of June and will also be available in the US starting next spring.
