Working on new urban mobility solutions, Schaeffler has presented an innovative micro-mobility concept during the "auto motor und sport Kongress 2016".

As people become more and more aware of the environmental issues, our travelling habits are changing accordingly. The desire to travel emission-free, opting for clean mobility is causing a global economocial and political rethink. By looking for new ways and discovering new technologies, scientists and engineers are considering new individual mobility solutions for the urban travellers. Studying future requirements for individual forms of mobility, Schaeffler came up with its own bio-hybrid concept.

It comes with an electrically-assisted drive system - you can either pedal away or take advantage of the low, centrally-mounted battery pack, which helps you reach maximum speeds of up to 25 km/h and a minimum range of 50 kilometers. The new vehicle platform with two front and rear wheels ensures increased safety and driving stability. The bio hybrid 1+1 seater (2 seats) is 2.1 m long, 1.5 m high, 85 cm wide, and has a track width of 80 cm, so it can be comfortably driven on cycle tracks.

It can be easily transformed into a stylish cabriolet, so the driver can, at least in good weather, enjoy some fresh air. The bio hybrid is also equipped with an integrated smartphone connection, so the driver has on the spot, constant access to various apps and can quickly gather information on the current weather report or traffic situation.
