According to its Research and Development director Maurizio Reggiani, Lamborghini is moving towards first plug-in hybrid, final road going version of Urus. SUV, on several occasions already seen as a study, will be the first and apparently only plug-in from Sant'Agata Bolognese and will hit the road in 2018.

Reggiani di not explain much about the powertrain of the plug-in successor of LM002, Lamborghinis "Rambo Lambo" offroader from the 1980's, with the exception of the fact, that supercharging of basic petrol engine will be "completely mandatory" to cope with the increased weight of SUV.

The plug-in powertrain will not be the only one in Urus. It will also be available with twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 engine. Platform will be shared with Audi Q7 and Bentley Bentayga and it will be focused on handling, good weight to power ratio and aerdynamics.
