Arrival of the new logo will match with the start of production of I.D. electric cars.

Year 2019 is definitely going to be a year to remember for Volkswagen. It is hardly a news today that it is going to be the birth year of Volkswagen's family of electric cars, called I.D. This will also mean a new identity for the brand, which is trying to forget the recent scandalous years so it is only reasonable, that it will also introduce – according to Bloomberg – a new logo.

Changes off course will not be as extensive as one might think. After all, the last change of the logo was made only six years ago and got, compared with the previous one from the year 2000, only a bit more three-dimensional look. Moreover, if we check the history of VW logos from the beginning back in 1939, let alone from the year 1960, the basic shapes are remaining the same.

What Volkswagen expects from the new logo is that it will 'need to work on car fronts as well as smartphone screens'. What Jochen Sengpiehl, VW's chief marketing officer meant with this is not yet clear. However he also pointed out, that it will help to give the brand a new identity, which will not only help bringing the brand away from Dieselgate scandal but also away from previous design that was according to Sengpiehl 'too German', too strict. And that is not something Volkswagen wants to be, when the time of entering into the world of electric cars arrives.
