After winning the first Formula E race in 2014, placing 3rd in first Formula E season and being second last season Brazilian Lucas Di Grassi has managed to win the title this season.

He had to do it the hard way, in the last race in Montreal, after his biggest rival Sebastien Buemi missed two races in New York on penultimate Formula E weekend (as he raced for Toyota in World Endurance Championship) and then had a catastrophic weekend in Montreal. He was disqualified on Saturday and the had to make an extra pitstop after first corner crash, ending the race without points in 11th place after a great recovery drive from last place.

Meanwhile Abt Audi driver Di Grassi has driven a controlled race and ended it in 7th place. Supported by his teammate Daniel Abt, keeping out of tight spots and not taking risks. In the end he collected 181 points, while Buemi managed 157 points.

Despite Buemi losing the title his Renault eDams team has won its third constructor title.

Next season of Formula E starts in December in Hong Kong. It will feature three double-race weekends, also ending in Montreal on the last weekend in July.
